Best Neighborhoods to Buy For Families on The Main Line are in! Are you considering moving to The Main Line with a family? Are you looking for great schools, great restaurants, and easy access to the city? As a mother of two boys, I understand the importance of having space, great schools, and easy access to the outdoors. I grew up in Gladwyne and decided to raise my family in Wayne and it is really a great place to raise a family. Here is my insider guide to the best neighborhoods for families on The Main LIne.
First is where I am raising my kids, Wayne, PA. First of all is downtown Wayne that offers a charming main street with shops, dining, and a movie theatre. It is a regular PA Mayberry. It offers access to the city via the Paoli-Thorndale Line and access to Routes 476, 76, 202, 95 via Lancaster Ave. Wayne’s school districts are divided between Radnor, Tredyffrin-Easttown and Upper Merion school districts, depending on which county/township you are in, but each offer some of the best schools in the state. Other family attractions include multiple playgrounds, mile Radnor Trail, the Wayne Art Center, Wayne Senior Center, the Saturday Club, and the McKaig Nature Center. Some of my favorite dining spots are White Dog Cafe, Christopher’s and Autograph Brasserie, all of which are family friendly.
Next is Bryn Mawr which is close to major highways I-76 and I-476. Bryn Mawr and Ardmore train stations nearby give access to Center City Philadelphia and NYC. Bryn Mar offers incredible access to parks including Ashbridge and Clem Macrone in addition to spaces for rainy days like the Main Line Art Center and Lundington Library. Bryn Mawr, like Wayne, is divided into a number of excellent school districts including Haverford, Lower Merion, and Radnor. Some of my favorite spots for dining include breakfast at Up Rise Bagels and a dinner at The Choice, with sweet treats at Surreal Creamery.
Last, but not least is historic Merion Station. Merion Station is most centrally located and is the last stop on the Septa R5 Line (the “Main Line”) before Philadelphia. It has a gorgeous botanical garden with great programming for kids, parks with tennis courts, playgrounds, and wide open spaces while being very close to the city. Schools are within the Lower Merion School District, children in Merion Station attend Merion Elementary School, Bala Cynwyd Middle School, and Lower Merion High School, or they can choose from a variety of very prestigious prep schools. Some of the best parts about living in Merion Station is you can get deliver from the other Main Line areas, and Philadelphia!
These are by no means the only neighborhoods on the Main Line perfect for families and I will continue to offer more reasons and neighborhoods for those looking, if you would like to discuss your needs personally, please reach out and I would be happy to help you start your search.
