What is in and What is out for 2022 according to Vogue? Let’s see! Everyone has been spending more time indoors, and the interior of homes has never sparked more joy or discontent than in the last two years. Are you feeling your home needs some updates, but want to be sure you are making the correct ones, that are in fashion? Hi, I’m Kimmy Rolph and I specialize in listing and buying on The Main Line PA and I wanted to share some of Vogue’s tips for what is in and what is out for interiors in 2022, for my sellers. These are compiled by 14 of the top interior designers in the world, so take note!
Good news first for those on The Main Line whose aesthetic is more natural, shades of brown and nature inspired surfaces and objects are in. All of those wooden sculptures we see and audubon prints are definitely in in 2022. Do not be afraid to go beyond botanical prints to using porous surfaces and more for your interior design projects. Textures are also big, so natural rugs are a big draw as well. Sculural or carved furniture also play into this aesthetic. Think chairs, whether dining or side chairs, the more dynamic the chairs the better. Next is outdoor living. Truly outdoor living is having a moment. It is more than adirondack chairs though, trends right now are more towards full living rooms that take advantage of the out of doors. The Main Line homes do an incredible job of this already, as we have incredible interior designers who have made outdoor living, an art. Also sustainable features and dual purpose rooms are seeing being given major upgrades. With the pandemic, all of the space is being used to its utmost utility. Think playrooms and guestrooms and reimagining how you are using your office space or libraries. Floral patterns and travel inspired touches are also getting being utilized much more than just in bathrooms or offices. From wall paper to apolstery these are really the accents to watch.
Now for what is not having a moment. Open floor plans. With so much time indoors, the open floor plan can feel very claustrophobic. Additionally, boucle in apolstery and in textiles is a big no. All white interiors are also out and along with them the non functional decorative objects. Another thing that must go is the boxy sofa. Designers are opting for more function over this form. I hope these have given you some ideas and inspiration for your homes or some ideas of how to play up your home for sale. I offer home staging for those looking to list now and can get your home on the market in under 7 days, so do not worry if you commit any of these DONTs according to Vogue. Let’s take this next step together.
