I have raised two sons on The Main Line and I grew up in Gladwyne, so there is no one better to instruct you!
Let’s get started. The Main Line is just outside of Philadelphia and is known for its exclusive and charming neighborhoods, top-rated schools, and parks and recreational areas. It has A LOT to offer families and many choose to live here for generations, like myself. Here are my top neighborhood picks for families on The Main Line.
First is Devon. Devon is a charming, family-friendly neighborhood located in the heart of The Main Line. Some of its top-rated schools include the Devon Elementary School and Conestoga High School, which consistently rank among the best in the state. The area also boasts an array of parks and recreational areas and has a lot to offer equestrians and outdoor people alike with Devon Horse Show and Fairgrounds and the Valley Forge National Historical Park.
Next is Wayne, where I live now! Wayne is another popular neighborhood for families and has one of the top ranked school districts, Radnor Township School District, known for its excellent schools. Also it includes the award-winning Radnor High School. Wayne also offers plenty of recreational activities with parks, trails and sports facilities. Next is Bryn Mawr, which is really picturesque due to the architecture and tree lined streets and offers great schools including Bryn Mawr Elementary School and Harriton High School. Bryn Mawr has Harriton Park which is a beautiful space for children of all ages. We also have Ardmore that offers schools in another award winning district, the Lower Merion School District, which includes Lower Merion High School. Ardmore also is a favorite for buyers because of the cultural attractions and shops including Ardmore Music Hall and the Ardmore Farmers Market. Lastly, we have Haverford. This is home to the Haverford School District, whose schools include Haverford High School. Haverford also offers plenty of outdoor opportunities parks and hiking trails located in the area.
