Making a Hygge Home on The Main Line Coziness is a feeling or an emotion more than something tangible and in Danish the art of Hygge is how to make anyplace cozy. Cozy homes, are homes that sell. Hi, I’m Kimmy Rolph with Berkshire Hathaway Fox and Roach and I love a good blanket, warm socks and cocoa, and that is what hygge is all about. Here are my top hygge tips for a home. These are great because they increase curb appeal, without actually making home edits. Let’s list them!
First thing about Hygge is it is a complete sensory experience. Something baking is a way to start. Baking cookies or anything with vanilla in it makes a home smell welcoming. Next, light candles. If you want to forgo the baking, you could burn a scented candle that is not overpowering but is in a holiday scent. Next, layers of comfortable knits are really trendy right now in similar color palettes. Muted greys of beige throws in cashmere, wool, or knit. What goes better with cozy blankets, candles, and cookies? Warm drinks! Mulled wine or spicy chai are great options if you are listing a very high end home, or hosting an open house, having these mada make a home smell incredible and they can also be served upon entering, if you have the event catered. Lastly, is the playlist. We do not recommend full on holiday music because there is a fine line between nostalgia and nauseating holiday music, stick to instrumentals and classics. That is our hygge list! We have so many homes on The Main Line PA, and many of them are very high end luxury, so the open houses for brokers need to be elegant, inviting, and exclusive. Hygge is all of those things without being pretentious. If you are looking to list your luxury home with a realtor who really pays attention to details, please consider Kimmy Rolph Real Estate.
