Best Places for Leaf Peeping on The Main Line? Looking for where to enjoy the most spectacular foliage in and around The Main Line? I am so happy to share them with you. Few things are more relaxing that having a cider or cocoa enjoying falling leaves and colors and here are my favorite spots to take it all in. Peak season for leaf peeping is mid to late October, so plan these weekend trips, bonfires, and flannel shirts in advance!
First, a quick run down of why The Main Line has incredible colors, thanks to the regions deciduous forest, region’s deciduous forests, we see maple leaves turning vivid red; ginkgo leaves turning bright yellow and Aspen, ash, and sumac trees each show their own unique shades, creating quite the stunning fall palette.
Now to the best places to see these colors in concert. The Valley Forge National Historical Park is a great place to see changing leaves and also explore American Revolutionary History along a ten mile loop. For the peak, leaf peeping experience, hike to the peak of Mount Misery or Mount Joy to get broad vistas of the foliage. This is located in the King of Prussia area.
Next up, is Ridley Creek State park that encompasses more than 2606 acres of woodlands and meadows in Delaware County. Fall in love with the rolling hills and stunning foliage. This is also a great place to hike or have a toasty picnic. The other must see park is Wissahikon Valley State Park where there are dozens of miles of trails, an 1800 acre gorge crossing forests and meadows, which are breathtaking during the fall. I highly recommend these places, in the summer and spring as well! So bundle up, grab some cocoa and cider donuts and enjoy The Main Line foliage this fall!
