Design Predictions for 2023 are here! Wall paper? Mid century modern? Stainless Steel? Are you thinking of updating your home before selling or just refreshing your Main Line home for 2023? Hi, I’m Kimmy Rolph and I represent Main Line PA sellers AND buyers and here are the design trends expected to turn heads, and turn lookers to buyers in 2023. First is a trend that forecasters are predicting to stick around and that is the nature trend. Incorporating natural elements whether these are floral prints to natural fibers and elements like baskets and green hues. The second trend is towards what designers call “moody” and dramatic spaces. Gothic black rooms, monochrome rooms in deep purple and teal are all very on trend for 2023, however if you are planning on selling, we would avoid this type of forward design because it can make a room look smaller OR may be difficult to reverse, should a buyer want spaces to be more traditional. Next, is a really fun trend and that is a return to art deco and elements of the 1920s. Bring on the glam powder rooms and art nouveau patterned papers, this is a trend that can be easier to follow and also one that is classic. Another moody trend are kitchen counter tops, think leathered granite and deep hues of soapstone. This trend is shown frequently with lighter counter tops and it is a risk if you are thinking of selling in the next five years. Next is a really fun trend to play with and is easy to revert if you are considering selling and that is pops of trim. Whether it is trim on a lampshade or around a window, it adds a subtle pop of color without overwhelming a space. A trend that will also continue is wallpaper! This is a fun trend and can go in so many different directions. Be conscious of where you are placing wallpaper and how many patterns you are combining, if resale value is a consideration. The last trend that is a very big plus for curb appeal are soothing tones. Mid level blues, eucalyptus, and oatmeal are shades that will be continuing and these are tones that are also great for buyers because they are very liveable.
