Decorating Tips that Won’t Spook Buyers this October

I don’t know about you, but I love Halloween! It is one of the traditions that I always have the most fun with my kids, but as a realtor, it can be very scary how bad halloween decorations can be for selling. Hi, I’m Kimmy Rolph with Berkshire Hathaway Fox and Roach and on the Main Line, we have a lot of fun with halloween, but there is a fine line between fun halloween and scary bad decorations that spook buyers. Here are some of my tips to enjoy the season and still sell your home.

First, be sure that your halloween decorations are only up weeks prior to halloween and come down right after. Nothing worse than an old jackolantern. Second, do not have listing photos with halloween decorations in them. All listing photos should be professionally staged without themes. Buyers need to imagine themselves living in your home, so personal and theme effects should be limited. Third, Have an open house!!! If you are newly listing your home, why not have some fun and do a neighborhood open house party? It is well known that friends, neighbors, and family are great at helping sell homes. Celebrate the occasion! Lastly, see that you have decorations that can last into fall as well. Do not jump straight into christmas lights, decorate your home for fall and it will look great at halloween too. I hope that these are helpful and if you want more tips for selling on The Main Line, hit subscibe on my channel below.
